Niek Wagenaar (1999) is a young dancer and dance maker based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During his studies at the Amsterdam University of Arts (Urban Contemporary Dance), he joined the internationally acclaimed Hofesh Shechter Company in London, the United Kingdom. Whilst continuing to work for the company after graduating, he began to form the foundations for his own movement practice. His dance initiative, Niek Wagenaar’s Nymphs, premiered their first work Nymphs in spring 2022. Nymphs has since won awards in both The Netherlands and abroad. Niek’s work is fluid and organic, sensual yet powerful, rhythmically exciting and rich in physical sensation and imagery.
