Enchanting rituals and bungee cords

Sabbath (Niek Wagenaar’s Nymphs) - Beneath the dense canopy, in the mystical glow of the full moon, three figures come together for an enchanting ritual. Far from the norms of society, a play of light and darkness unfolds, a macabre counter-clockwise dance fueled by diabolical energy. Here is the Sabbath – a night of magic, mystery and transformation. Behold the Sabbath, where boundaries blur and magic is in the air. Enter at your own risk, for when night falls, the witch awakens.

In this double bill a work in progress version of Sabbath is presented. The official premiere of Sabbath will be on the 31st of May at Karavaan Festival in Heiloo.

No Strings Attached (Collectief MAMM) -  Two dancers battle gravity and their bungee cords. Determined to gain control. They sabotage each other, challenge each other, give up and start again. Constantly measuring themselves against the other: who can be stronger, faster, slower or softer? But can you use a setback to your advantage?

This double bill is curated by Jasper van Luijk (SHIFFT).

In their world that’s dreamy and dazed, watch a singular performer boldly take the stage as he tries to make sense of what is within and without. During Boy, choreographer Niek Wagenaar embarks on a deeply personal and vulnerable journey of reflecting his innermost world. In a fully improvised score, an ethereal yet dynamic physical language mirrors the self as the performer passes contrasting stages of grinding self-exploration and meditative transcendence. As a solo response to his award-winning debut Nymphs, which was created for an ensemble of five dancers, Boy explores the crises of identity, non-conformity and masculinity.

Boy will premiere at Barker Theatre in Turku, Finland on October 9th, alongside new work from their in-house choreographer Evgeny Kostyukov. Tickets will come available soon.

During ChangMu International Performing Arts Festival in Seoul, South-Korea, After All will be part of a triple bill alongside pieces from Korean choreographers Jang Hyerim (99 Art Company) and Kim Dong-kyu (R.se dC). The performance will take place in ARKO Arts Theatre, Grand Theatre at 19:30.

The piece will be re-created especially for Schrit_tmacher Festival, and will be adapted to take place on a rooftop in Heerlen. It will be performed twice, at 13:00 and at 16:00.
