Goodbye Garden

In collaboration with the students from Codarts University of the Arts, Niek developed a brand-new short work titled Goodbye Garden. Inspired by the symbolic meaning of the Lovers card in the mystical tarot deck, Goodbye Garden delves into the tensions between love and hate, trust and deceit, unity and selfishness.

In a physical tour de force, Goodbye Garden lays bare the consequences of polarization, illustrating how these opposing forces can unravel the fabric of community. Reflecting the current zeitgeist, the piece follows six individuals in a contemporary Garden of Eden—a once harmonious paradise, now facing disintegration. What occurs when a fragile society, reminiscent of this idealized garden, loses its sense of community and falls apart?
